Geoffrey Davies started his career in the theatre as a “student acting ASM” at the Harrogate Repertory with the White Rose Players; shortly after this he entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to complete his formal training.
His first part was as ‘Lt: Faversham’ in the film Oh What a Lovely War, this was followed by another film appearance as ‘Lt:Gessel’ in The Gap, other film appearances include Tales from the Crypt and Doctor in Trouble.
Geoffrey is probably best known to television viewers for creating the role of ‘Dick Stuart-dark’ in the highly successful series Doctor in the House and subsequently Doctor at Large; Doctor in Charge; Doctor at Sea and Doctor on the Go. He has toured Australia twice, firstly with Doctor in the House and then with Doctor in Love. Both these stage productions were such outstanding successes that an Australian television series was filmed in Melbourne entitled Doctor Down Under, which went to the top of the Australian ratings.
On his return to England he went straight into the West End revival of Arnold Ridley’s Ghost Train in the role of ‘Teddy Deakin’; subsequent theatre appearances include ‘Buttons’ in Cinderella at the Theatre Royal Lincoln; ‘Roger’ in Outside Edge on a national tour; The Happy Apple; ‘Peter’ in Murder in Mind which transferred from the Yvonne Amaud Theatre Guildford to the West End, and five tours of the Far East in No Sex Please, We’re British; Blithe Spirit; The Secretary Bird; Private Lives and Outside Edge. Recent stage appearances include Run for Your Wife at the Whitehall Theatre; Seasons Greetings at Bromley; Dick Whittington at Chichester Festival Theatre; And Then There Were None at the Duke of York’s Theatre; Doctor in Love in Canada; ‘The Tin Man’ in Wizard of Oz at Plymouth and Newcastle; ‘Philip Lombard’ in And Then There Were None on a UK tour; Run for Your Wife at Eastbourne; Dick Whittington at Torquay; Something’s Burning at the Theatre Royal Windsor and the Yvonne Amaud Theatre Guildford and national tours of Blithe Spirit and Presents from the Past and See How They Run for the Salisbury Playhouse and Windsor Theatre Royal.
Some of his many television appearances include Bergerac; The Bretts; The Labours of Erica (2 series); Doctor at the Top; Families; Law and Disorder and, most recently, Stick with me kid.
Geoffrey appeared in a Derek Nimmo production in Delhi of It can Damage Your Health, 10 Little Indians at Vienna’s English Theatre and CINDERELLA at The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford.
He appeared in the National tour of The Importance of Being Earnest before going on to the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe to appear in Dick Whittington and then onto Pygmalion for Vienna’s English Theatre in Vienna. Geoffrey starred in the follow-up National tour of The Importance of Being Earnest before going on to star in Aladdin at the Beck Theatre, Hayes.
Geoffrey most recently starred as Geoff in the UK tour of Bedside and been seen on Television in Eastenders as the Judge in Little Mo’s trial.
